Yonge Street is almost 35 miles long and an arterial road in Toronto that connects Lake Ontario to Lake Simcoe. The street is the north-south baseline from which street numbering is reckoned east and west. Yonge is Toronto's main cultural street, hosting events such as parades, street performances or demonstrations. Commercial and historic buildings are located along important parts of its length.
