“Sun Gate”. This famous and busy square is considered the center of the city and is in fact the starting point of all Spanish highways. It also features the building of the regional government, the tower of which houses the clock whose bells traditionally mark the beginning of a new year. Besides a equestrian statue of Charles III, you can also find represented the symbols of the city: a bear and a strawberry tree. The gate itself was demolished in 1579. In the 19th century the square changed its original rectangular shape for the semicircular form of our days.
