La Brea Avenue is a prominent north/south thoroughfare in Los Angeles. "Brea" is Spanish for "tar", a reference to the La Brea Tar Pits. It is home to Museum Row, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. It is also filled with trendy designer boutiques, antique stores, and eateries. La Brea is home to La Brea Bakery and The Lyric Theatre too. The street ends north of Hollywood Boulevard, being for nearly all of its distance parallel to La Cienega Boulevard. The section of La Brea in Inglewood was known in its early history as Commercial Street.
