This sign reads "Welcome to Brooklyn / 4th Largest City in America / Sebastian Leone / Borough President". It was located in the early 70s at the Verrazano Bridge ramp, but it lasted on place just a few years before it was stolen in 1977. The sign gained national fame by appearing at the opening credits of the hugely popular sitcom “Welcome back, Kotter" in the 70s. Now there's a replica of the sign at the lobby of Brooklyn Borough Hall, but still nobody knows what happened to the original one.
