Halsted Street is a major north-south street in Chicago. Beginning in Greektown, Halsted crosses the industrial Goose Island in the Chicago River before entering Lincoln Park and Lakeview, where it becomes a very popular street for bars and restaurants. It teems with gay bars and clubs as one enters Boystown, Chicago's main gay and lesbian community and one of the city's busiest shopping districts. Around Armitage the street features some well-preserved architecture from early Chicago.
