Length: 227.7 mi. Direction: west-east. Virginia State Route 40 (SR-40) is a highway in the southern part of Virginia that begins in Woolwine, and ends in Spring Grove. The road crosses the counties of Patrick, Franklin, Pittsylvania, Halifax, Campbell, Charlotte, Lunenburg, Nottoway, Dinwiddie, Sussex, and Surry. It was opened in 1933.
