Bond Street is a major shopping street in West End, running through Mayfair from Piccadilly to Oxford Street. With its long-established art auctioneers and exclusive boutiques, it has been a fashionable shopping street since the 18th century and it is still a magnet for lavish spenders from around the world. Technically "Bond Street" does not exist: the northern section (more than half the total length) is known as New Bond Street and the southern section as Old Bond Street, but this distinction is not generally made in daily usage. Bond Street takes its name from Sir Thomas Bond, an area developer.
