Knightsbridge runs along the south side of Hyde Park, in Westminster, until it becomes Kensington Road. It is famous for its cultural, educational institutions and financial wealth. Knightsbridge was named after the legend of two knights fighting on a bridge. In the old days it was plagued by highway men and much celebrated for its taverns. Knightsbridge is today home to many expensive shops, including the department stores Harrods (which began with a small grocery shop that Henry Charles Harrod took over here in 1849).
