“Cascorro Square”. Formerly known as Plaza del Rastro (Rastro Square), which is also the name of the neighborhood where it is located. The square was renamed in 1941 in memory of the "heroic" contribution of the Spanish soldier Eloy Gonzalo in Cascorro, a little Cuban village that Eloy Gonzalo burned down all alone during the Cuban Independence war against Spain at the end of 19th century.
