Hang Bac ("Phố Hàng Bạc" with Vietnamese character set), located in Hanoi's Old Quarter, is one of the oldest streets in Vietnam, dating from at least the 13th century. Hàng means merchandise or shop, and Bạc means silver, as this street started as a silver ingot factory under the reign of Le Thanh Tong (1469-1497).
