“Street of the Fishing Cat”. This short street (31 yd) lies in the 5th arrondissement (district), in the area of Sorbonne. It is considered as the narrowest street in Paris, with a minimum width of less than 6 feet. It was opened in 1540. The street has lent its name to the novel “La Rue du Chat-qui-Pêche” by Jolán Földes, a Hungarian writer that lived in this street in the 1930s. It takes its name from an old sign with a cat placed here.
