Interstate 44 (I-44) is a highway in the central part of the United States that crosses the states of Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri. The stretch in Missouri runs for 293 miles from near Joplin to St. Louis. The highway crosses the counties of Newton, Jasper, Lawrence, Greene, Webster, Laclede, Pulaski, Phelps, Crawford, Franklin, and St. Louis. It was opened in 1956.
