Chicken is an old mining settlement in Alaska with seven inhabitants so we guess they don’t have a Kentucky yet. In 1902, the prospectors wanted a post office and needed a name to write on the form. Someone suggested naming the place for the local rock partridges that made delicious pigeon pies, but they gave up on this because they didn’t agree how to spell “ptarmigan”. If they had a mayor, they might have called him Chicken Mayo and asked him to decide. These days we suppose Chicken Community Person would be a safer bet. Anybody interested?
