The name of the small Shetland island town of Twatt means a small parcel of land (spelled þveit in Norse) which could be in a valley or on an elevation. The Friends of Twatt Society are calling for donations on their website “to spread the word of our love of Twatt, and perhaps even allow us to develop tee-shirts, coffee mugs, hats, hoodies or stuffed animals”. Send them £5, and they promise you will be warmly welcomed in their Twatt at any time you choose to pop by for a visit.
