This fellow certainly looks happy to have arrived in the heart of Best in Reagan County, Texas, although when last we heard there were only two inhabitants left in the boom-and-bust town that ran out of gas. After Tom Best invested in an oil field in 1924, the population grew to 3,500 in a year and earned a reputation of being wild.

The settlement acquired the label of being “the town with the best name in the world and the worst reputation”. When the war was over the well was dry and the community drifted off. All that’s left is a boomtown that collapsed in upon itself. Everything has its moment and let’s enjoy the best of life.
