Starvation Road leads through some of the driest, dustiest bad-ass country that even Utah has. It’s on the far side of nasty mountains a way south of Tucker. Tucker’s not much help though, because it’s a bad-ass ghost town itself, with the old rest area buried beneath the road, and not Big Mac or Kentucky wrapper in sight.

In this particular part of hell your only salvation is to set your satnav to Starvation State Park a way and a half off across towards the east. This is a large reservoir of water with rest room, showers, sandy beach and fish cleaning stations. Primitive camping is permitted. There’s even a ‘group-use pavilion’. Hmm…
