Beatty, Nevada is so nowhere that thinking about it is enough to make us want to crack a can of something cold. Beyond Hope St. is north of Hope St. and south of North Avenue on the edge of endless desert. Before you say leave me with the turkey vultures is there anything in Beatty worth hanging on to life for?
It gets worse. Beatty is the gateway to Death Valley where the only life left is wild flowers flourishing in the spring. It once offered hope with an opera house and its very own red light district. After both closed, we guess the survivors moved north of Hope St., put up the sign, and drifted nowhere slowly.
