Truth or Consequences was a radio program that was a mix of trivia questions for which there were no answers, followed by wacky penalties for offenders. In 1950, the announcer offered to relocate to the first town that renamed itself for the show. Hot Springs in New Mexico took the plunge and had the announcer visit for the following fifty years.
The hot water pours out there at 210 to 240° F, which is hot enough to make a cup of tea. We hope they have a Truth and Consequences warning sign about not overcooking lobsters. The locals call their town “T & C”. These do not seem very clear to us at all.
